Chapter Thirty Eight: Week 9 Story

There was a girl by the name of Daniela. She lived in a small village full of people who depend on agriculture to survive. Daniela was the most beautiful girl in the village, and most of the boys had tried to ask her father for his blessing in dating his daughter. Unfortunately for those boys, she wasn’t interested. One very beautiful day a strange, but handsome, man came across the small village. This strange man went by the name of Alejandro. As Alejandro made his was through the small village, he caught a glimpse of Daniela and was infatuated. When Daniela saw Alejandro, she felt the same. It was like love at first sight. For a while, they spent all of their free time together. They were inseparable, until one day Alejandro had to continue his journey. After he left Daniela learned she was with child, she was confused as to how this happened. It was as if it were miraculous. Everyday Daniela tried to contact Alejandro, to no avail. Alejandro knew of these attempts because he was a demigod, but didn’t want Daniela to know. Because of this, he couldn’t go back. Eventually, Daniela’s child had finally arrived. Up until this point she hid away from her village for fear of being shamed for not being married. She knew she couldn’t keep her child, so she wrapped he baby girl up in a blanket, set her in a basket and sent her down the river. She didn’t want to give up her child, but she knew she couldn’t provide the life her child deserved. In order for her to be accepted, she would have to have no child. Daniela eventually got married and had more children, but she never forgot about her first born daughter. Unfortunately for Daniela, she never saw her- or Alejandro- again.

*Author’s Note- I was inspired by the story of Kunti. She had a God’s son, but was unable to keep it. She eventually sees him again, but I wanted my story to differ in that, the child was a girl and she never got to see her again. I think it gives it a more realistic twist.

The story I was inspired by is titled Kunti and Her Son and was written by Donald A. Mackenzie.

  1. Kassandra,

I read your story this week and I was amazed. I'm glad that somebody decided to write more about Kunti and make their own version of her story. I could feel t he emotion from Daniela in the story. Putting a modern twist on the epic really puts the stories into more perspective because it is easier to relate and understand them. You did a fantastic job this week and I look forward to reading more of your stories in the future.

  2. Hi Kassandra! Your story about Kunti was a very good and easy to understand re-telling. The changes you made to the story was really great. I liked that it was told in a very modern way so that the reader has a clear idea of where you are taking the story while also adding some changes to the ending of the story. You did a great job including details that gave the characters in the story emotions that felt very real. Great job and I can't wait to read more from you!
